The Oswego Lions Club, established in 1956, raises money through various fundraisers and distributes this money in the community. The primary missions of the Lions Club are sight and hearing related projects. This includes assisting community residents and school students with eye exams, eyeglasses, and hearing aids. In addition to sight and hearing, the Club donates money to many worthy organizations and causes in the community.

The Club holds three major fundraisers throughout the year to help in these efforts. In January we hold our famous comedy night “Roar with Laughter”. We have hosted this annual Comedy night for over 20 years. In March we hold our “Wine and Beer Tasting with Silent Auction” which has been held now for over 20 years and in June we will hold our annual “Rivers Edge Craft Show.

This past year alone, the club has donated over $22,000 to the Oswego community. Past fund-raising events we have helped to support are The Book Mobile, “The Children’s Museum of Oswego, “H” and Mary Dowd $2000 Annual Scholarship Fund, Friends of Camp Hollis, Blessings in a Backpack, The Oswego Library Capital Campaign, The Oswego YMCA, The United Way Stone Soup Food Pantry, Stuff a Bus, “There is no Magic in Drugs” which is a drug awareness program for all the elementary schools and The Oswego Little League, just to mention a few.

The Oswego Lions Club is a growing group of 30 plus hard working members, and we are always looking for new members to join our organization. For those interested in more information about joining the Club, please contact any club member.

Established in 1917 Lions International consists of 45,000 Lions Clubs worldwide with a membership of 1.4 million volunteers. Local chapters of the Club are committed to serving the disabled, including those with visual impairments, hearing loss, and other challenges.
