Write a commentAlan R. Butler, age 72, of Oswego, passed away unexpectedly at home May 1, 2024.
He was born in Syracuse and was the son of the late Charles and Bernice Buttimer Butler.
Alan Butler had been employed for many years in the family business, Butler Disposal Systems. He was also the former owner of Al’s Disposal Service. Al was always ready with a smile and time to chat.
He was devoted to his family and was always there for them. He was an avid sports fan. He loved his New York teams all year round: The Giants, Yankees, and Rangers. If you couldn’t find Alan with his family or friends, you would find him on the golf course. He also loved all the family pets throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife Georgianna Curran Butler, one daughter, Holly M. Butler (Ron) of Oswego, two sons, Sean M. Butler (Amy) of Parish and Patrick A. Butler of Oswego, three brothers, Charles (Missy) Butler of Oswego, Terry Butler of Hermon NY, Todd (Chrissa) Butler of Dewitt NY, two sisters, Bonnie (Joseph) Purdy and Becky (Paul) Engle both of South Carolina, Five grandchildren, Kodey Bristol, Alexes Butler, Patrick Alan Butler, Jr. , Andrew (Ashley) Gates, Nichole (Corey) Lower. Six great grandchildren, Athena Butler, Elijah, Anya, Gavin, Jocelynn, Sydney Lower and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his brothers Thomas Butler & Dale Butler.
Calling hours will be Thursday May 9, from 4-7PM at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home. Graveside committal services will be 10:30AM on Friday May 10 at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
