The Oswego Music Hall is pleased to open its new season on Saturday, Sept. 12th, at 7:30 p.m. with the powerhouse duo, Amy Gallatin and Roger Williams, along with J.D. Williams and Eric Levenson, who make up the Stillwaters Band.

Amy Gallatin and renowned resophonic guitarist Roger Williams—20 and 40 year veterans of the New England music scene--joined forces a few years ago to explore their mutual love of country standards, served up with an acoustic treatment in the bluegrass vein. The result is a toe-tapping blend of heartfelt vocals, soaring harmonies and red-hot picking, traditional yet modern and distinct.

Americana radio host Ed McKeon says: "Amy's vocals, with the power and tone of her voice, are tempered by Roger's baritone which has been sanded smooth by cigarettes and, shall we say, maturity. The song selections are perfect, the harmonies glorious, the sentiments wonderfully maudlin (like any good old country song)."

The two are enhanced on mandolin and vocals by Roger's son, JD, who is a Berklee College of Music student, and by veteran bassist Eric Levenson, who has toured extensively with several bands.

Amy has lived many years in the west where she was able to combine her interest in her two passions: horses and music. She’s been influenced by country artists like Emmylou Harris, Loretta Lynn and the Everly brothers. When she moved east, she and her Stillwaters cohorts began playing on stages far and wide, in Europe, the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. With Roger Williams, a great acoustic slide player with a voice more than a little like Merle Haggard, The Stillwaters draw enthusiastic crowds at music clubs, theaters, country & bluegrass festivals and house concerts. J.D. Williams flavors his mandolin and guitar playing with jazz and blues, while Eric Levenson on bass adds an exuberant energy that’s contagious.

Listen to Amy and the Stillwaters Band on their Web site at http://www.amygallatin.com/ Then join the fun of a live concert on the shores of Lake Ontario at the first show of a new Music Hall season.

The venue is the McCrobie Civic Center, 41 Lake Street, Oswego, in a space overlooking Lake Ontario that volunteers transform into an intimate atmosphere with candle-lit tables surrounding a small stage. Desserts, snacks, popcorn and beverages are available for purchase.

Ticket prices for this event are $16 if purchased in advance and $18 at the door. Children 12 and under are half-price; under 5 are free. Tickets can be purchased on-line at http://oswegomusichall.org/ or at the river’s end bookstore, 19 West Bridge Street in Oswego. Holders of tickets purchased before 1 p.m. on the day of the concert will have preferred seating. After 1 pm, seating will be general admission. For information about money-saving Season Tickets or becoming a member or a volunteer, go to the website or contact Membership Secretary, Carol Forrest at 343-2988.

The Music Hall’s next show, Sat. Sept. 26, will bring the feisty, funny, award-winning Cosy Sheridan and Charlie Koch to its stage. The Oswego Music Hall has been run entirely by volunteers from its beginning over 37 years ago. Volunteers can earn admission to shows through different tasks. Free Open Mic shows are held on Friday nights before all Sat. shows, making it a popular place for local and regional talent to be heard.

Music Hall concerts are made possible in part with funding from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. For more information call 315-342-1733 or access the Music Hall website: http://oswegomusichall.org/
