Art Association of Oswego to Offer Summer Classes

     The Art Association of Oswego is holding summer art courses that vary from printmaking to pottery.

     Monotype Printmaking   

     The class involves creating one-of-a-kind prints with oil-based and water-based colored inks on zinc and plexiglass plates.   Class will be held at the Art Association building June 19, June 24, June 26 and July 1.  All classes will be from 6-9pm.  The class will be taught by artist and teacher, Bill DeMott.

     Photoshop Elements Part II

     This is the second part of the workshop offered earlier this year by the AAO Outreach Program which is partially funded by Central New York Arts of Syracuse.  The class is designed to help participants develop or increase skills in digital manipulation or rendering of images.

     The class is free of charge and will be held at the Oswego Public Library computer lab. On July 12 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.  Individuals who attended Part I of this class have priority for Part II.  For further information or to register contact Bill DeMott at wdemott@twcny.rr.com.

     Pottery Classes 

     Both beginning and intermediate level students will have an opportunity to learn or improve skills in throwing functional clay pieces on a potter’s wheel.  Techniques include wedging, centering, compression, lifting, trimming and handle making.

     Each class level will meet weekly for four weeks.  The classes are open to individuals 16 years and older.  Classes are limited to six students each.  Both classes will be taught by Chris Jankovski in the pottery studio at the Art Association building.

     The beginning class runs Thursdays   July 10-31 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

     The intermediate class runs Mondays  July 14-Aug. 4  1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

    The Art Association of Oswego is located in a red building at the north end of East 4th Street, just before getting to Fort Ontario.
