The Spring 2024 Season at the Oswego Music Hall continues this weekend.

On Saturday April 13,  the Lake Street venue will present folk/roots band The Big Sky Quartet will perform on the National Stage, with a cappella group Octavia opening at 7:30 p.m.

The Big Sky Quartet is led by Sarah Fiore on guitar and vocals. She also serves as the group's songwriter, but says most of the finished tunes are a collaboration with bandmates Jason Whetstone, Jennifer Hara and Kelly McClain. "We recently received a Songwriters of the Year Award from the Central Pa. Music Association" Fiore said.

Fiore said the band's members hail from the Harrisburg, PA area. Their most recent album is Red Sun Rising from 2021, and she said that they're working on a new collection for release later this summer.

The group is known for their vocal harmonies. Music Hall Artistic Director Tom Lambert was pleased to bring the band to Oswego. "The richness of their three-part harmonies was what really drew me into their headlining performance at the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance show last spring," he said. "It's a treat to bring new musicians to our venue that have been so well-received by the large audience at NERFA."

Opening the Saturday evening show at 7:30 p.m. will be the a cappella group Octavia. Founding member Faith Summerville is a SUNY-Oswego music major, and said the group has been together since her junior year. "Our sole mission," she said, "is to use a different form of music to bridge the gap between the Oswego State campus and the Oswego community."  Currently comprised of twelve members, the group performs mostly popular music, including selections from Taylor Swift and Kansas.

"It should be a great night of music, especially for those who appreciate vocal harmonies," said Lambert.

The Big Sky Quartet with opener Octavia will perform this Saturday evening, April 13, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Oswego Music Hall. The Music Hall is located at 41 Lake Street in Oswego, inside the historic McCrobie Building.  Doors will open at 7:00p.m.

Advance sale tickets are available at www.OswegoMusicHall.org, or at The River's End Bookstore in downtown Oswego. The Music Hall has an all-volunteer staff, and the venue is handicapped accessible. There will be light refreshments available for purchase.

The Music Hall will also present an Open Mic Night on Friday April 12. Syracuse-area singer-songwriter Mark Zane will be the host. The Friday evening program will begin at 7:00 p.m., with sign-ups at 6:30.
