Residents of Sumatra Apartments in Scriba no longer need to boil their drinking water.
The boil water order issued Tuesday, Dec. 16, was rescinded today, Dec. 18.
Oswego County Public Health Director Vera Dunsmoor said that repairs were made to the water system Tuesday night and bacteriological sampling has been completed. “The results show us that the water is now safe for residents to drink and use for cooking,” she said.
“We would like to thank the town supervisor and the water operators for their efforts to protect the health of residents during this time,” she added.
Officials said that a water main break on the private service for Sumatra Apartments caused the issue. Residents were advised to boil water until the system could be repaired and testing showed the water was safe for consumption.
