Marilyn Knoop, 87, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, passed away on October 29th, 2018.

Born in Oswego, NY, on April 16, 1932, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Mabel V. (Horr) Foster.

Marilyn attended Oswego schools and graduated from Oswego High School in June of 1952. She went onto Washington D.C. to work for the US Marine Corp, as a secretary/ receptionist until her departure with her husband Jacob R. Knoop, a member of the US Air Force. They departed DC in 1957 and moved around to other assignments for the Air Force. They were stationed in Maine, South Dakota, and Ohio, where Marilyn worked various jobs on the bases.

Marilyn loved traveling, camping, cooking, crocheting and was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Fort Mill Women's Club.

She was survived by her son, Jacob R. “Ritchie” (Sherri) Knoop, of Murrells Inlet SC; granddaughter, Jamie Leigh Knoop, of Pineville, NC; sister, Sally M. (Donald) Bennehoff, of York SC;  brother in law; Harry (Phyllis) Knoop of, Ada, MI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jacob R. Knoop, grandparents, and also her furry friends, Chester, Fluffy  and Oscar.

A spring burial will be held at Oswego Rural Town Cemetery at 11am on Friday, June 14th.
