Write a commentOswego Speedway will begin its 2019 championship schedule with this Saturday’s 69th Season Opener presented to fans by Century 21 Galloway Realty of Oswego.
Headlining the program is the return of the Jim Shampine Memorial Twin 50’s for Novelis Supermodifieds. Drivers will compete in two separate main events allowing the potential for two different teams to be crowned Shampine Memorial champion.
Scheduled alongside the Supermodified features are the 35-lap Tony White Memorial for the Pathfinder Bank Small Block Supers, plus an extra distance 35-lap Memorial Weekend special for the 350 Supermodifieds.
Teams may start entering the pit area at 11:30am this Saturday with a mandatory owner and driver meeting scheduled to take place at 12:45pm. Hot laps will hit the track at 1:30pm while the main grandstands will also open at 1:30pm.
Group time trials will return for all three divisions in 2019 with time trials taking the green flag at 4:00pm. The evening’s heat races are scheduled to begin thirty minutes after the completion of time trials.
To best accommodate the big block teams who will need to prepare their cars for each of the two main events, Novelis Supermodified heat races will be run first on Saturday. Pathfinder Bank SBS and 350 Super qualifiers will follow.
The evening’s feature events will begin with the first Shampine Memorial Twin followed by the SBS Tony White Memorial 35, the 350 Super 35 and the second and final Shampine Memorial main for the Supermodifieds.
