Lakeside Artisans welcomes ceramicist Barbara Moore to its shop at 191 W. First St., in Oswego.
Moore took her first ceramics class when she was a senior in college and has worked with clay off and on ever since.
When she moved to Oswego in 1978 she began taking ceramics classes at SUNY Oswego. Those classes provided the opportunity to explore the art (and challenge) of creating hand-built as well as wheel-thrown ceramic pieces. Her work includes both decorative and functional forms. Currently, Moore creates her clay pieces at Firefly Studio in Sterling, N.Y.
By day Barbara works as a psychiatric nurse practitioner at St. Joseph's Hospital, in Syracuse. She has done undergraduate and graduate work in Boston, Mass., Charlottesville, Va., and Syracuse. The mother of two daughters, Sarita and Laura, Moore lives with her husband, Robert, in Oswego.
Lakeside Artisans will hold an Artists' Open House for prospective members from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 12. Please RSVP by June 5. If you are a fine artist or fine crafter interested in information about becoming part of Lakeside Artisans, contact us at 342-8880; e-mail us at lakesideartisans@gmail.com; or "friend" us at Facebook.
