Charles W. Simmons, 86, of Scriba, died July 18, 2017, at St. Luke’s Health Services.
Born in the Town of Oswego, he was the son of the late Loyal G. and Lovina (Hollenbeck) Simmons Sr.
He was employed as Boilermaker and was a member and Past President of the Local 175. He worked on various construction sites throughout the state.
He was an ARMY Veteran during the Korean Conflict.
Charles enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a former member of the ELK’s Club and a member of the VFW.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Georgene (Mohart) Simmons; his second wife, Doris (Jock) Simmons, his brother, Loyal Simmons Jr.; and sister, Vivian Truax.
Charles is survived by his sons, Charles F. “Chip” (Tricia) Simmons of Granby and Christopher “Chris” Simmons of Minetto; grandson, Joshua Simmons; sister-in-law, Jan Simmons; aunt, Dorthy Ditto of Oswego; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held 3-6 pm, Friday, July 21, 2017, with a services to follow at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St., Oswego.
Burial will be held July 28, 2017 in Riverside Cemetery.
