That’s when the pair applied for their license to sell legal cannabis in NY. “We see a need for safe, legal cannabis,” Darrell told iHeart Oswego. “Product that consumers know is clean.”
The hardworking husband and wife team, who own several rental properties throughout the county and also work full-time outside of FlynnStoned (Darrell in sales and Natasha in HR), have dedicated significant amounts of time and energy to learning exactly how different forms of cannabis are used—and they’ve made sure their staff of 13 understands these intricacies as well.
“We’re brand partners with FlynnStoned [of Syracuse],” Natasha explained. “And that has allowed our staff to go and train in their store. They’ve also trained directly with our vendors. We want to guide people towards products that will meet their needs. It’s not just about THC, but CBGs, CBNs, and other cannabinoids that all work differently in the body.”
The store will be stocked with a variety of flower, edibles, drinks, and pre-rolls, with more to come as the owners learn what the Oswego market needs. And they will learn quickly: even as iHeart was conducting the interview, the owners had to stop to let a group know that they weren’t yet open, even if the lights were on.
FlynnStoned Oswego is celebrating its grand opening today, January 3, with a 10am ribbon cutting led by the Greater Oswego Chamber of Commerce and iHeart Oswego. As part of the event, the store will also have two vendor pop-ups on-site to chat directly with customers about their products: Grön and Dank. Grön is a woman-owned corporation run by a professionally trained chocolatier, and specializes in edibles. “Their chocolate is absolutely delicious,” Darrell remarked. “We’re excited to bring their products to the Oswego market.”
FlynnStoned Oswego will be looking to hire a few more staff members after February 1st as they become more established. Interested applicants should inquire in-store. Hours for the dispensary are Sunday, 10am to 8pm; Monday through Thursday, 10am to 9pm; and Friday and Saturday, 10am to 10pm.
