CNY Arts Center announces auditions for Shrek, The Musical, Jr directed by Adam Schmidtmann for kids ages 7-18 only.
Auditions are being held Saturday, December 3 from 3-5pm, Sunday, December 4, from 3-5pm and Monday, December 5, from 6-9pm at the Arts Center, 11 River Glen Dr. on the Cayuga College Fulton Campus. Those auditioning should be between ages 7 and 18, and still in school. They should also prepare 16-32 Bars of a Musical Theatre Song (must provide sheet music) and a 1 minute comedic monologue.
As stated in the production promo, “Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in Shrek, The Musical, JR., based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. It's a "big bright beautiful world" as everyone's favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairy-tale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family.”
Elaborate costumes and realistic makeup for all the Fairy Tale creatures, under the artistry of Elizabeth Ladd and Sabrina Woodward, were the subject of a recent New York State grant application. Ben G. Borenstein will music direct while Jessie Dobrzynski choreographs the musical running on stage April 6-13, as the second production of the 2018 season.
