Volleyball Jumps Back into Win Column vs. Capital at Naz Tourney

The Oswego State volleyball team jumped back into the win column with a 3-0 victory over Capital University at the Nazareth Invitational on Friday night. Oswego's straight-set victory came in 25-20, 25-20, 25-14 fashion to go 4-1 on the year while Capital falls to 3-4.

As a team, the Lakers trumped Capital 38-32 in kills, 5-3 in blocks, 34-29 in assists and 44-38 in digs.

Oswego's top three offensive players were Ariel Murawski, Megan Russell and Isabella Winklestine. Murawski had a match-high nine kills while Russell added seven and Winklestine chipped in six.

Murawski was also present on defense, tying teammate Emma Moriarty with two blocks. The Lakers were led by Alison Sullivan, who capped the evening with a match-high tying three blocks.

Passing was delegated to Moriarty (10), senior classmate Lindsey Champitto (8) and junior Jessica Long (8), who ended the night with a combined 26 digs. Champitto did pace the team in the setting department, finishing with a match-high 16 assists to go along with senior-classmate Lauren Edward's 15.

Oswego returns to the court at 1 p.m. on Saturday with Medaille College at the same tourney. Later in the afternoon, the Lakers will close the tournament with the host Golden Flyers.
