Write a commentDana A. Brown, 71 of Towanda, PA passed away unexpectedly on Saturday September 6 in the Oswego Hospital.
He was born in Waverly, NY and was the son of Mabel Cole Brown the late Donald and Mabel Cole Brown.
He graduated from Troy High in 1973 and from Penn State on the Dean’s list in 1975.
He had been employed on the Wrisley Family Farm, Ulster PA. and Ray-Vac Battery Corporation while attending college in Penn State. He then took a full-time position at Masonite Corporation. After 44 years of employment, he retired.
Dana was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler, golfer and horseshoe player.
He was a devout Buffalo Bills and Penn State Fan.
Dana purchased a motor home and planned on traveling from campground to campground with wife his wife and children. Memorial Day weekend 1998 pulled into Shady Shores Campground in Fair Haven, NY on Lake Ontario. Dana his wife and children loved the campground and campers so much that 27 years later they are still seasonal campers. Dana loved the campground and his camp family. He always had dog treats even though he didn’t own one. Dogs often stopped by to visit Dana and get their treats. In his younger years days campers came to him for help or advice on their campers, he was always willing to help everyone. Dana won multiple horseshoe tournaments at camp.
He coached girls softball. Coached Towanda Little League and Pee Wee Football with Randy Hickox for years. He was a member of the Towanda Little League Board of Directors, shot in Men’s Bradford County Dart League and years later was voted in as President where he served for years. with his special friends Todd Welch, Randy Hickox, Gary Hendricks and Randy Gibson. He held numerous memberships including, VFW Post 1568 in Towanda, PA, IOOB Club Chapter 3991, Martville, IOOB Club Chapter 1647, Fairdale, NY and the American Legion Post 1552 in Hannibal.
Dana is survived by his wife Caroline Fromm Brown of 37 years, three sons, Jeremiah and Crystal Brown of Ulster PA, Anthony Brown (Leia Wilkinson) Sayra, PA, Jonathon Brown (Tonya Ball) of Towanda, PA, his mother Mabel Brown of Brooksville, FL, brother Kenny and Karen Brown of Ulster, PA, grandchildren, Lauren Brown, Shyanna Yaggie and Sierra Yaggie, Brothers in laws, Wayne (Buzz) Fromm and Cindy Fromm, Blasdell, NY and Kenny Chilson of Towanda, PA., special friends Todd Welch, Randy Hickox, Gary Hendricks and Randy Gibson and Sean Wilson.
He was predeceased by his father Donald Brown and brother Dennis Brown.
