David Everts Wadsworth (86) died peacefully of natural causes on Saturday, April 20th.

David was born on September 25, 1932 in Oswego to Millard and Ethel (French) Wadsworth.

He graduated from Oswego High School and while taking agriculture classes at Cornell University helped to operate Wadsworth Farms in Minetto, which had been a family business since 1864.

In 1973 he married the love of his life, Margaret Sherman.  David and Margaret sold the family business and retired in 2007.

David enjoyed the outdoors and spent many years adventuring with his cousin and best friend Kenneth French.  They, along with their other cousins and neighborhood friends, spent their time camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking.

David enjoyed raising prestigious Scottish Highland Cattle for breeding and was recognized nationally for doing so.

David and Margaret, in their adult years, loved gardening as well as spending time with their grandchildren, both sharing a love for things that grow.

David is survived by his amazing wife of 45 years, Margaret, his children and their spouses; his son, William and Laura Wadsworth, his three daughters, Joann and Terry Stoutenger, Mary Beth and Alan Schmidt, and Colleen Geers.  He is also survived by his prides and joys, his nine grandchildren: Brian, Tera, and Mark Stoutenger; Timothy and Jeffrey Schmidt; Justin, Michael and Samantha Geers; and Nora Wadsworth, as well as 6 great-grandchildren.

Per David’s request, there will be no ceremony, just a private celebration with friends and family.

Nelson Funeral Home has care of his arrangements.
