Donald F. Moss, 92, a resident of the town of Scriba, passed away Saturday, at the Oswego Hospital, following a brief illness.

Mr. Moss was born in Oswego, the son of the late Harold and Lena (Belisle) Moss. He was a life resident. He was a graduate of Oswego High School.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945. During the war, he served in the Pacific on numerous islands. In 2015, he was honored as the 2015 Masonic Lake City Lodge Veteran of the Year.

Mr. Moss was employed as a certified welder with the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. for 35 years, and retired in 1983. He was a member of the Oswego Masonic Lodge, and was its most Senior Past Master. Mr. Moss was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He was predeceased by his wife, Betty (Buske) Moss, who died on April 21, 2014.

He is survived by a daughter, Karen (John) Dwyer of Syracuse; two sons, Timothy (Elizabeth) Moss of Oswego, and Gary (Amanda) Moss of New Haven; three grandchildren, Timothy R. Moss, Stephen I. Gifford, and Reid Parker Moss; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 Wednesday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 Tuesday, at the funeral home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
