Douglas E. Thompson Jr., 58, a resident of Oswego passed away at his home on May 13.

Born is Astoria, Queens, he was a son of the late Douglas and Ann (Homage) Thompson Sr. While in Queens he attended local schools. Mr. Thompson spent over 15 years as a driver for Gypsum Express in Baldwinsville, NY. Prior to his driving days, Douglas began working in various restaurants throughout New York City. His family would come to appreciate these experiences as in his later years he would share his culinary talents with family and friends alike. He also enjoyed camping, where he would command the cookouts, making sure all were well fed. Mr. Thompson also liked to read comic books in his spare time. When his life permitted, he also loved to return back to New York City for visits.

Surviving are his two sons, Andrew and Benjamin Thompson, both of Oswego, a brother Francis (Kimberly France) Thompson of Oswego, a sister, Patricia Konwisarz of Middletown NY and several nieces and nephews.

He met his wife Kristine Russell Thompson while they where volunteering at the Salvation Army. Kristine predeceased him in July 2015.

The family will receive friends at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00-6:00 with a service to follow the hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a go fund me page that is being set up in Doug's name.
