Write a commentDr. William J. Kelly, Jr., 83, a resident of East 5th Street in Oswego, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego.
Dr. Kelly was born in Syracuse, the son of the late William J. Kelly, Sr., and Helen (Simmons) Kelly.
He was a 1950 graduate of Oneonta High School, and a 1954 graduate of The College of the Holy Cross in Massachusetts, where he received his bachelor’s degree. He then attended the University of Buffalo Dental School, graduating in 1958.
For 52 years, he proudly worked as a dentist in the City of Oswego, serving thousands of patients.
He was the former president of the Oswego Country Club, and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Oswego.
Dr. Kelly is survived by a daughter, Kerry (Scott Sullivan) Kelly of Rochester; two sons, William J. (Tina Seymour) Kelly III, of Oswego, and Michael (Kaori) Kelly of Japan; five grandchildren, Kevin Sean Kelly II, Brennan Kelly, Liam Kelly, Michael Sullivan, and Aurora Sullivan; two sisters, Jane Lynn of Oxon Hill, Maryland, and Barbara (Joseph) Paoletti of Clearwater, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Kelly of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Kevin Sean Kelly, who died in 2008.
The Kelly family would like to thank the people of Oswego for welcoming our father with open arms and kind hearts. Of all the things he did in life...he always said, “The one thing I did right was establishing my dental practice in Oswego. I love this place with all my heart. It has been a wonderful life. Thank you for accepting me!”
Funeral services will be held at 9:00am Tuesday, at St. Mary’s Church in Oswego.
Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Syracuse.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 Monday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home in Oswego.
