Elaine Reap Bond, 90, of Oswego, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening.
She was born on June 12, 1934, in Mount Vernon and grew up in Yonkers, NY. She was the daughter of James and Jesse (Burnett) Reap. Elaine graduated from Oswego State Teachers College in 1955, where she met and married John H. Bond, the love of her life. Together they raised four daughters, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and creativity.
Elaine was an exceptionally artistic and creative person. She was a gifted knitter, an avid gardener, and a passionate member of the Snobelt Quilters, which she often hosted along with her bridge club. She had a natural flair for fashion and jewelry and delighted in putting together stylish outfits. Her love for beauty and creativity extended into her home and garden, which were always warm, welcoming, and filled with life.
Elaine was a natural conversationalist, never meeting a stranger and always making those around her feel at ease. She shared her warmth and generosity not only with family and friends but also with her community. She taught in the Mexico, Oswego, and Elwood Long Island school districts, shaping the minds of many young students. Elaine also served as a Girl Scout leader, a deacon of the Oswego Presbyterian Church, and a member of its choir. She loved to sing, create, and give back to those around her. In college, she was an active member of the Alpha Delta Eta sorority and enjoyed attending their reunions throughout the years.
Elaine's leadership extended to her community involvement as a member of the board of directors of the Oswego Ladies Home. Her tireless contributions and vibrant personality will be missed by many.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Bond of Syracuse, NY; Carolyn (David) Thompson of Oswego, NY; Sharon (Anthony) Bonacorsi of Oswego, NY; and Terri-Lee Dean of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Elaine was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: David (Jesse), Bryan, and Michael Thompson; Nikole and Nick Bonacorsi; and Allison and Bayleigh Dean, and three greatgrandchildren: Jack, Madison, and Nora.
Elaine was predeceased by her husband, John, and her brother, James Reap of White Plains, NY. Her warmth, creativity, and love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family will receive friends and family to celebrate Elaine’s life Thursday, October 10th from 4-6 pm followed by a religious service officiated by Pastor Andrew Hinman at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
