Imagination Library of Oswego County (ILOC) gives thanks to Excellus BlueCross BlueShield for their generous $5,000 Health and Wellness grant award. Their funding will provide over 2,100 books for free to registered children across Oswego County.
“We are extremely grateful to Excellus BlueCross BlueShield for investing in our early childhood literacy program that will benefit many children in Oswego County and better prepare them for kindergarten,” said Andrew Eusebio, program coordinator for Imagination Library of Oswego County.
ILOC is providing free books to 53% of eligible children in the county, mailing over 3,300 books each month this year. The program is on track to serve 4,200 children and deliver 40,000 books in 2025. Since the program’s launch in the county in November 2018, 7,620 children have participated, 3,717 have graduated, and 187,043 books have been delivered.
The Imagination Library program, administered locally by the Literacy Coalition of Oswego County, is a free monthly book subscription that provides an age-appropriate book each month to all registered children, encouraging caregivers to read with their children each day for at least 15 minutes. The program is available for families with children who are under five years old and reside in Oswego County. There is no cost for the family regardless of the household income.
