The Universal Pre-Kindergarten program at Fairgrieve Elementary School recently celebrated some of Fulton City School District’s youngest students during the Week of the Young Child.

The weeklong event allowed the children to explore their five senses, fine motor skills, family engagement and collaboration, among other opportunities. From dance parties to tasting healthy eating choices, completing large floor puzzles together, being outdoor artists and creating a family scrapbook, teacher Robin France said the students have blossomed as a class and throughout the 2018-2019 school year as they ready for kindergarten in the fall.

Because they have grown as individuals, students and a class, the Fairgrieve Elementary School UPK program was again invited to participate in Fulton’s annual Memorial Day parade next month. In preparation for the event, the UPK classes recently visited Fulton Screen Printing where they received some assistance in creating their own T-shirts for the parade. In small groups, each student helped ink their own shirt with a Fairgrieve UPK design.

France said the field trip has been an annual tradition of the program’s for about 10 years and helps the students see and explore their community.
