
Florence L. “Lil” Murray, 98, a former resident of East Seneca Street, passed away Wednesday, at St. Luke Health Services.
Lil was born in Oswego, the daughter of the late Edward R. and Mabel (Horr) Wells. She was a life resident.
Prior to her retirement, she worked at the banquet hall at the Oswego Elks Lodge. She was the former operator, with her husband, of Don’s Tavern in Oswego, and had also worked at the Last Long Knitting Mill in Oswego.
She was a member of the Oswego Elks Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Post 2320 Auxiliary, and the Oswego Moose Lodge.
She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three sons, James E. Murray of Oswego, Donald F. “Honker” (Kathy Mills) Murray Jr. of Oswego, and George William “Bill” Murray of Oswego, Five grandchildren, Bonnie Trembley, Matthew Murray, Brent Murray, Chrissy Maine, and Becky Gibson; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cody, Matthew and Nolan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald F Murray, Sr. who died in 1999; two brothers, Richard Wells, and Edwin Wells; and three sisters, Ella Pelkey, Ethel Meeker, and Doris Sanford.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Tuesday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 Monday, at the funeral home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
