Fred M. “Fritz” Hammond, 73, a resident of Albright Road in the town of New Haven, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 at his home. He was surrounded by his family.

Fritz was born in Oswego, the son of the late John and Rose (Ladavaia) Hammond. He was a life resident of the area.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Prior to his retirement he was employed as a laborer with Laborers Local #214 in Oswego, and many knew him as a meat cutter.

Fritz was an avid fisherman who loved being on the water. He enjoyed hunting in his younger years.  

He was known as a generous man who was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He had many friends by whom he will be greatly missed.  

He is survived by his wife, Donna (Hogan) Hammond of New Haven; a daughter, Lisa (Charles) Maitland of New Haven; a granddaughter, Alyssa Facteau & grandson-in-law, Jay Kisselstein of Hastings; three brothers, Joe Coe of Oswego, Ed (Pam) Hammond of Florida, and Jim (Peggy) Hammond of Scriba; two sisters, Henrietta Brown of Oswego, and Isabel (Brian) Richardson of Oswego; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Fred Hammond, who died in 1992; and three brothers: John Hammond, Frank Hammond and Carl Coe.

Per his wishes, services will be private and there will be no calling hours.  Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.

Arrangements are in care of the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home in Oswego.
