First responders surprised the Fulton Red Raiders 8U (8 years old and under) football team at their Thursday night practice with a parade of fire and police vehicles.
It was a send-off for the team, organized by Ethan Parkhurst, as they prepared to head to Schenectady on Saturday for the state championship game. The police and fire personnel came to congratulate the team for their successful season, and to wish them success at their final game.
The Red Raiders will be playing for the state championship at 10:00 AM on Saturday at Schenectady High School. The Red Raiders, 8U South Division Champions, will play the Rensselaer Rams for the state championship.
The team, led by Coach Dave, Coach Dwain and Coach Brandon, earned their spot in the championship game by going 8-0 for the season. They defeated Auburn 20-13 for the division championship, coming back from a 0-13 deficit in the fourth quarter. They then defeated the Rochester Rams 18-12 in the Empire State Classic game.
