George J. LaRock, Jr., 86, a resident of 36 East 5th Street, passed away Thursday, at the Oswego Hospital.

George was born in Oswego, the son of the late George J. and Grace (Heagerty) LaRock, Sr. He was a life resident. He was a veteran of the US Navy from 1945 to 1953, serving in the European Theatre. Prior to his retirement, he was employed in the maintenance department of the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. He worked at the Oswego Steam Station; and the Nine Mile Point 1 and FitzPatrick Nuclear plants. He had previously been employed at the FitzGibbons Boiler Works, and the Ames Boiler Works. George was a communicant of St. Paul's Church. He was a life member of the VFW Post #2320; and the American Legion Post #268.

He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Lynn (Griffin) LaRock, who passed away in 1997.

George is survived by four daughters, Susan (Allen) Thurlow of Oswego, Donna (Rick) George of Ithaca, Mary Lou (Michael) DiFabio of Oswego, and Catherine (Robert) Axtell of Oswego; four sons, Michael (Ann) LaRock of Fulton, James (Dawn) LaRock of Oswego, Joseph (Beth) LaRock of South Setauket, NY, and John LaRock of Oswego; 16 grandchildren, Jeff (Kelley), Justin (Stephanie), Rick (Antoinette), Carrie (Alec), Christin, Emily, Matt, Kira, Griffin, Michael, Andrew (Kate), Hallie (Andy), Daniel, Nicholas, Hana, and Ty; four great-grandchildren, Kahmil, Haven, Noah, and Ava; many nieces and nephews; one great-grandchild who is "on the way"; a sister-in-law, Gail Jones of Oswego; and a brother-in-law, Peter Griffin of North Carolina.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Family was the most important thing in the world to him. He will be forever in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Monday, in St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 Sunday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
