Write a commentGeorge J. “TAG” Johnson, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning surrounded by loved ones.
He was the husband of Marlene J Mills Johnson. They shared 63 years of marriage together.
He was born and raised in Oswego, New York. George was the son of the late George J Johnson, and the late Catherine Doviak-Gadziala. He was the stepson of the late Mike Gadziala.
He was a service member of the US Navy and retired from “Alcan Aluminum “after 35 years.
George was a faithful and active communicant of the St. Mary’s Church of Oswego. He was an avid fan of watching NASCAR Racing and in past years, he enjoyed downhill skiing and playing a good game of golf.
George also held lifetime dual memberships at the Elks Lodge of Oswego and the knights of Columbus.
In addition to his wife Marlene, he is survived by two sons:
Michael (Lisa) Johnson of Shelby Township Michigan, and
Stephen (Jeannie) Johnson of Carrollton Ohio.
-Four grandchildren:
Christine (Chris) Kivlen of Northville, Michigan - Nicole (Jamie) Lazos of San Diego, California- Joseph (Kara) Johnson of Northville Michigan and Mark (Nicole) Johnson of Clinton Township Michigan.
George was also blessed with 6 precious Great Grand Daughters.
George was proceeded in death by two children, Christine E Johnson,17, and Infant son Paul Johnson.
George is also proceeded in death by three brothers. Joseph “Jinko” Johnson, Charles Johnson and Richard Johnson.
Committal services will take place Wednesday 11AM August 21st at St. Peter’s Cemetery. George’s wishes were to be cremated and placed beside his Children Christine and Paul and later by his wife Marlene. There are no calling hours.
