George W. Baker, 94, of Oswego Town, died November 11, 2018 at the Oswego Hospital.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Jesse and Emma (Sill) Baker.

In March of 1942 he was drafted into the Army and served until 1946 under the direction of General George Patton’s 3rd Army. He saw time in England, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany.

George worked as an Electrician for Oswego State retiring in 1987. He also worked for Metropolitan Insurance for 15 years and was the Co-owner of Economy printing in Oswego. He was also a gun shop owner from 1950 to 1995.

Surviving are a daughter, Judy (Richard) Howard, of Oswego; three sons, David (Sue) Baker, of Oswego; Thomas (Kim) Baker of Catskill, NY; Edward (Theresa) Baker, of Bernhards Bay, NY; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Bessie (Mueller) Baker and brothers Robert and Donald Baker.

Services will be held privately. Burial will be in Oswego Town Cemetery.

Donations can be made to the Oswego Town Volunteer Fire Department or the Scriba Town Volunteer Fire Department.
