George William “Bill” Murray, 74, a resident of East Cayuga Street in Oswego, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 in Oswego.
Bill was born in Oswego, the son of the late Donald F. and Florence “Lil” (Wells) Murray. He was a life resident of the area, and was a graduate of Oswego High School.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed with the Carrier Corporation in Syracuse. He had previously worked for the General Electric Corporation in Syracuse, and for Cali’s Floral Shop in Oswego.
He was an avid fan of the Oswego Speedway and dirt track races. He also loved hunting, golfing, and spending time with his friends. Bill had been a member of the Oswego Elks Club, the Oswego Moose Club, the Oswego American Legion, the Oswego Hibernians Club, and the Oswego Polish Club.
He is survived by two sons, Matthew Murray of Oswego, and Brent (Jennifer) Murray of Oswego; two brothers, James Murray of Oswego and Donald “Honker” Murray of Oswego; three grandsons, Cody, Matthew, and Nolan; and a daughter-in-law, Dolores Murray of Oswego.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 Saturday, December 23rd, at Lagraf’s Pub, 187 East 10th Street in Oswego, which was formerly known as Don’s Tavern, and owned by his father.
Contributions in his memory can be made to the Oswego American Legion.
Arrangements are in the care of the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home in Oswego.
