Write a commentKing Arthur's Suites and Canal Commons are sponsoring a Gingerbread House Contest. The contest is open to all who love to bake and decorate for the holiday season.
Judging will take place in three categories: Children- up to 12 years old; Adult - above age 12; and Professional – including those who make their living in the food industry.
Kits will be allowed for the children's category only. Each entry must be at least 50 percent gingerbread. Although the theme for this year's contest is the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse, any style gingerbread house will be accepted.
Contestants should drop off their entries at Canal Commons, 193 W. First St., on Dec. 14 before noon. The entry fee will be an unwrapped child's toy to be donated to Toys For Tots.
Judging will take place later that day and awards will be announced at 9 p.m. on Dec. 14, during the Late Night Holiday Shopping even. More than $200 in prizes will be awarded.
There will be a special award for the "Best of Show" entry depicting the Oswego Lighthouse theme.
