Grace was born at home on Ohio Street in Oswego, NY on August 1, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Sydney Cleary and Fannie Ann Briggs.
Grace was preceded by her late loving husband, Harold Ware, her brother Ansil Cleary, and her three sisters Marion Gehan, Hazel See, and Ida Belle Allen, and her children’s father Sidney MacLean.
Grace was the mother of seven, she was a self-employed hairdresser and also worked at SUNY Oswego. She was a member of the Church of God of Mexico NY and for many years she hosted weekly prayer meetings in her home. For many years she was in the VFW Women’s Auxiliary in Scriba. NY,
Grace is survived by five daughters: Shirley (Ronald) Whalen, Donna Holbrook, Marolyn (Richard) Baker, Carolyn Stack, and Sydney Joyce Oakes. Two sons: Robert (Jean) MacLean and Matthew/Pete MacLean, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 4 to 8pm at Dain Cullinan Funeral home at 112 East 2nd St, Oswego, NY. Funeral service Wednesday, November 5 at 10am at the funeral home followed by burial at the New Haven Cemetery. The Reverend David Daley will be honoring our mother Grace by officiating her service.
