Write a commentOswego Harborfest announces auditions for the 2017 Children’s Musical. Auditions will be held on April 24 and 25 form 5:00 until 7:00 at the McCrobie Building on Lake St. in Oswego.
Students in grade five through 10 are invited and may audition on either evening. Students will be asked to sing America (My Country Tis of Thee) and Happy Birthday. They will also read a short passage from the production.
The musical has 21 speaking roles with additional parts for chorus and dancers.
This year’s production is “The Enchantment of Beauty and the Beast”, book by Vera Morris, music and lyrics by Bill Francoeur. The musical comes from Pioneer Drama Service Inc.
The story is taken from the beloved French fairytale. It is a fable full of fanciful characters. The musical takes us on a journey of the consequences of greed and selfishness and the power and redemption of love. The life lessons of forgiveness will uplift audiences and leave them with a sense of hope.
This year Harborfest will celebrate it’s 30th anniversary and this will mark the tenth Harborfest Children’s Musical.
