For the past 30 years, Harborfest has brought music, food, fireworks, rides and more to Oswego. It is able to retain its status as a non-profit organization providing free entertainment and quality family fun through the tireless work of a part time staff, volunteers and board members, and local businesses.
This year, the team at Harborfest decided to try their hand at something a little different- a digital countdown campaign designed to give their followers a day by day glimpse into the inner workings of one of the largest free admission music festivals in the state.
Margaret Gnadt, Public Relations Coordinator for Harborfest, stated, “It’s about evolving as a festival. We wanted to immerse our supporters in the Harborfest experience- what we do on a day-by-day basis, give first looks on material- To show Harborfest in a way that we never have before. We’ve recently expanded our social media to include Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter, and there’s going to be exclusive content going on all month long across the board, so it’s very important to follow us not just on Facebook!”.
The “countdown” will follow important projects and tasks the staff undertake, feature individual staff members, give sneak peeks on merchandise, print materials and collaborations with businesses, as well as highlighting key vendors, sponsors, and events. Each day will provide engaging, and informative Harborfest content.
Harborfest is one of the few admission-free music festivals in the country. It was founded with the mission of creating nationally recognized festivals and events that attract and engage a broad and diverse audience, celebrate and build community, and advance economic development in Oswego, New York. It would not be possible to continue the event without the massive continued support received from the City of Oswego, businesses, organizations, government entities, and individuals and family members.
