In the fall of 2013, 9 health and human service organizations organized to form the Oswego County Falls Prevention Coalition. With the vision that “We will create a fall free Oswego County and support healthy aging by preventing falls through education and awareness”, the coalition applied for and received funding from the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York.

The Oswego County Falls Prevention Coalition “has your back” if you are a senior (or caring for a senior) who has experienced a fall or is at risk of falling.
The Oswego County Falls Prevention Coalition has been instrumental in bringing awareness to local providers about the Timed Up and Go assessment for seniors.
Organizations represented on the Oswego County Falls Prevention Coalition will be present at Senator Ritchie’s Senior Health and Wellness Fair on 10/26/2017 from 11:00am to 2:00pm at the Oswego County Highway Department (31 Schaad Drive, Oswego NY 13126)
The Oswego County Health Department hosts workshops and classes in April that are focused on fall prevention for seniors and suicide prevention.
In the wake of the NFL's Ray Rice scandal, domestic violence has taken a front seat in our national dialogue.
According to the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN), Every 2 minutes, a woman is sexually assaulted in the U.S., however, sexual assault and rape continue to be one of the most under-reported crimes in the United States. In addition, girls ages 16-19 are 4x more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault.
In recognition of National Denim Day a number of organizations partnered with Oswego County Opportunities’ (OCO) Services to Aid Families (SAF) program to raise awareness of sexual violence in Oswego County and show their support for survivors of sexual violence.
April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). This year’s theme, “Engaging New Voices,” builds on the idea that we are stronger together, and that new partners and community members are needed to expand sexual assault prevention efforts. We can all help the next generation foster attitudes that promote healthy relationships, equality, and respect.
