House Fire Saturday Displaces Six Occupants

At 3:58AM on Saturday, January 3, Scriba Fire Department was activated for a reported structure fire at 829 Dutch Ridge Rd.

All occupants were able to escape the house prior to first responders' arrival. Working smoke detectors in the home alerted the occupants of the fire.

Scriba was assisted on scene by New Haven, Volney, Mexico, Oswego Town, Minetto, Menter Ambulance, Oswego County Coordinators, Oswego County Sheriffs, and the Oswego County Fire Investigation Team. Palermo and Hannibal provided coverage for the departments working on the scene. The occupants are being assisted with temporary housing by the American Red Cross.

No firefighters were injured during the incident. Two occupants were treated and released at the scene for minor burn injuries. The fire was brought under control at 5:19AM and Scriba members cleared the scene at 8:03AM. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Oswego County Fire Investigation Team.
