On Saturday, September 27th, Indivisible-Oswego County will host a town hall gathering.

The guest speaker is Rich Logis, the former MAGA podcaster whose organization, Leaving MAGA, is described as a safe space for those who have either left or are considering leaving MAGA. The town hall will be held at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center, 26 E. First Street, Oswego from 1 to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

As Logis explains, "I was a devoted member of MAGA nation for seven years. It made me feel I was part of something important: a movement that was trying to save American democracy. But starting in 2021, I realized I had been mistaken. It took me a full year to finally break away. During that time, I came to understand that MAGA is sustained by a series of myths that are intended to create perpetual feelings of desperation and panic."

On his website, Rich shares interviews and testimonials from others who have had the courage to leave the MAGA misinformation machine. At the September 27th event, we'll hear more of these testimonials.

"As people begin to see the full effect of the MAGA plan to destroy America's democracy and institute one-party rule, more people are beginning to have doubts about their support. This town hall can help those folks and also those who want to be able to talk to their loved ones about the issue. As prices from import taxes begin to soar, cuts to health insurance support lead more people to go without insurance and as a crackdown on free speech is beginning, this is an important conversation," said Paul McKinney of Indivisible-Oswego County.

Indivisible-Oswego County is a non-partisan community action group of like-minded individuals committed to supporting our American democracy through peaceful protest and information.
