
Ira L. Van Buren, 85 of Oswego passed away Friday in Zephyrhills, Florida.
He was born in Oswego and was the son of the late Martin and Mae Mitchell Van Buren. He was the husband of the late Eleanor A. Anthony Van Buren. Mr. Van Buren was employed for many years with Alcan Aluminum Company in Scriba as a metal control supervisor. He was a Veteran of the US Army and the National Guard. Mr. Van Buren was a member of the Oswego Elks Lodge #217 and the Lake City Lodge, Free and Accepted Mason’s #127. He was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church.
He is survived by two sons Thomas J. ( Jackie) Van Buren of Virginia, Martin Van Buren of Oswego, one brother Glen Van Buren of Oswego, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his youngest son, Leonard I Van Buren who died November 8, 2009.
Calling hours will be from 3:00-5:00PM Sunday March 20, with a service to follow at 5:00PM at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
Spring burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.
