Write a commentJames P. McGrath, 89 of Oswego passed away Wednesday morning at Upstate Medical University Hospital.
He was born in Oswego and was the son of the late Maurice and Helen Tivnan McGrath.
He was educated in Oswego schools and was a graduate of Syracuse University and Cornell Law School.
Mr. McGrath served in the US Navy.
Mr. McGrath was an Attorney in Oswego and operated a general practice of law for over fifty years.
He was one of the founding members of the Oswego Minor Hockey Association and was a past board member and coach.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Irene Jones McGrath, one son Jay. J. (Bobbi Jean) McGrath of Burlington, Vermont, Maryanne (Jim) Reidy of Scotia,New York, Margie Crispin of Fredericksburg, Virginia, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He also leaves behind stepchildren Ronald Rodriguez (Denise) of Champlain, New York , Susan Rock of Chazy, New York, and Sindy Dumas (David) of Wallingford, Connecticut. James also leaves behind the DeSantis family who were lifelong friends.
A celebration of Mr. McGrath’s life will be held at a later date.
