Joanne Gardner was one of the people honored at ARISE's annual Special Appreciation Event in Syracuse.

"Joanne has been an asset to us in so many ways," said Sabine Ingerson, director of ARISE's Oswego County Offices. "Her organizational skills, connections in the community, and tireless efforts have been instrumental as our services have grown. Her passion for our mission has grown steadily during her many years of involvement."

Gardner has been a valuable member of the ARISE Oswego County Advisory Committee since 2006. Rather than stepping back after retirement, she has taken the opportunity to share more of her time and energy in support of independence and access for all.

As a passionate supporter, Gardner has traveled with ARISE advocates for the past two years to meet with elected officials in Albany and advocate in support of the rights of people of all abilities. This past year, Gardner also served as the volunteer coordinator for the annual ARISE and Ride for Ramps event.
