John Saltalamachia, 92, of Oswego, died April 14, 2018 at Morningstar Care.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Angelo and Nancy (Natoli) Saltalamachia.
He was a WWII Navy Veteran having served honorably for 3 enlistments between 1944 and 1954.
John attended local schools and was a life resident of Oswego.
He worked as a handyman in construction and remolding homes. He was a wine maker. He was a retired custodian from SUNY Oswego.
John loved telling jokes and making people laugh; he enjoyed spending summers and fishing at his camp in Chaumont Bay; he enjoyed cooking and made the best homemade pasta.
Surviving are his brother, Joseph (Katherine) Saltalamachia, of Oswego; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Hazel (Dumas) Saltalamachia; and siblings, James, Bartholomew, Lucy Woodard, Anna Pacific, Jane Wedge, Shirley Lafave, Angeline Stevens, Nancy Saltalamachia and Mary Taormina.
Calling hours will be held 4-6:30p.m. Wednesday, with a service to follow, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany St. Oswego.
Spring burial will be in Minetto Cemetery.
