Joseph A. Trenca, 76, of Oswego, died January 3, 2018 at home.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late John and Anna C. (Reitz) Trenca.

He served in the Air-force during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1969.

He retired as a union laborer for the laborers local 214 after 50+ years of service. He worked on various projects including all three nuclear plants at Nine Mile Point.

Joseph enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, spending time at his camp in the Adirondack Mountains, he was an avid NASCAR fan, he also loved watching his three grandsons race.

He is survived by his wife, Maryann (Kline) Trenca of 52 years who he met and married in Posen, Michigan; his daughter, Paulette Trenca of Liverpool; his son, John (Tracy) Trenca; his sisters, Anna (Samuel) Battista and Margaret (William) Russell; sister-in-law, Lorraine Trenca; three grandchildren, Joseph, John, and Ronald Trenca; several nieces and nephews; and his two grand-dogs, Tristan and Taylor.

Aside from his parents, Joseph is predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Peter and John Trenca, Rose St-Onge, Jane Tynan, and Maryann Fitzgibbons.

Calling hours will be held 4-7 pm, Wednesday, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St. Oswego.

Funeral services will be held 10 am, Thursday, at St. Joseph’s Church.

Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
