Joseph F. Donovan, 92 of Oswego passed away Friday at St. Luke Health Services, Inc.

He was born in Oswego and was the son of the late Thomas E. and Anna McAssey Donovan.

Mr. Donovan was happily married to the late Ruth (Czirr) Donovan for 64 years. Ruth passed away June 7, 2019.

He was a Veteran of the US Navy and honorably served his country during WWII.

Mr. Donovan was a graduate of St. John’s School, Oswego High School and SUNY Oswego where he received his Master’s Degree in Education.

Following his graduation from SUNY Oswego he taught school in Boonville for nine years, Westhill Schools for two years and returned to Oswego Schools where he was a teacher, counselor and Principal. Joe proudly served as Principal of Kingsford Park School for 17 years until his retirement in 1989.

Mr. Donovan is survived by three children: Anne L. (Donald) Coniski of Oswego; Joseph F. Donovan, II of Lexington Park, Maryland; Michael T. (Kellie) Donovan of Oswego, and four grandchildren, Matthew Donovan, Nick Shepard, Jack Donovan and Audrey Donovan.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by one sister, Rosemary English, three brothers, Thomas E. Donovan, Alfred E. Donovan and Robert J. Donovan

Calling hours will be Saturday from 2-5PM at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.

Private entombment services will be in All Saints Mausoleum at a later date.
