As the school year wound down the Frederick Leighton Elementary School (FLS) recognized numerous students including all of the sixth-graders who advanced to continue their academic career at the Oswego Middle School.
Oswego High School spring athletes proved once again that sports and academics combine quite well.
Abigail McPherson received the Laurie Godfrey Memorial Award for creative writing at the annual Frederick Leighton award's assembly. McPherson's mother, Lorraine Smith, presented the award.
Several students were nominated for the STARR Character Award at the Frederick Leighton Elementary School. Lara Kanbur and Jillian Dowdle were selected to receive the honor this year.
Hard work paid off for Madeline Galvin, Tory Jaskula and Sarah Mancuso. The trio finished at the top of their classes.
"FitzGibbons Insurance Athletes of the Month" for June received their $25 gift certificates from river's end bookstore. Involved in the presentation were John FitzGibbons; varsity baseball player Brandon Schultzkie; varsity lacrosse member Alexa Healy; river's end bookstore owner Bill Reilly; and Buc Booster Club President Judy Dunsmoor. The Buccaneer Booster Club is also a sponsor of this monthly award to recognize outstanding Oswego High School student athletes.
Oswego High School senior Leah Weiss was recognized for Academic Excellence by the Oswego Association of Business and Professional Women (OABPW).
The Charles E. Riley Elementary School sixth-grade honors assembly provided the opportunity to recognize those students moving on to the Oswego Middle School while at the same time congratulating them for their academic effort.
