Karen was born in Fulton, NY on August 18, 1943, to the late Glen and Lola (Taylor) Salsbury.
Karen worked as a Phlebotomist in Syracuse prior to being a medical assistant for Dr. Hazboun in Fulton, NY for many years. Thereafter, she was a Teachers’ Assistant at CITI BOCES and was assigned to work at the Fourth St. School. She retired after many years of service with BOCES.
She enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping with family and friends, golfing, bowling, ceramics, roller skating, sewing, and being social. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and quality time with the grandchildren.
Karen is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald; her children, Timothy Jones, Sandra (Todd) Redhead, and Sherry (Shawn) Mahoney. Karen is also survived by her six grandchildren, Cassidy Jones, Courtney Redhead, Riley Mahoney, Tyler Redhead, Madison Jones, and Devon Mahoney; a sister, Elaine Edgarton; and several nieces and nephews.
Karen was predeceased by her elder sister, Joanne Bowers.
Calling hours will be held from 11:00 to 1:00 Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1:00, at the funeral home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
