For the last three years, Ray Jock, owner of La Parrilla, in Oswego, has opened up his restaurant to provide Thanksgiving for the less fortunate in the area.
Once again, he said it went very well and this year they served approximately 40 people. As always, Jock said, the community was more than generous donating not only food, cakes and pies, but their time as well."The community always comes together for this," he said. "They even come that day and help serve the meals."
Jock said his whole family helps out that day as well.
"When we are done, we close and we and everyone who helped have our own Thanksgiving," he said. "It's really nice."
All left over food donations we brought to St. Luke Health Services
and other nursing homes in Oswego as well as the Salvation Army.
Jock said Oswego Middle School student Emily Bradshaw, of Emily's Mission, was there as well handing out personal care bags. Bradshaw has been on a personal crusade to raise awareness and funding for a homeless shelter for the area's homeless.
"We hope to continue to build this tradition and keep it growing each year," Jock said.
