Public Meeting September 9—

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Bureau of Fisheries biologists and managers will hold a public meeting about sportfishing in and around Lake Ontario.

Hosted by the Tug Hill Black River Trout Unlimited Chapter, the meeting runs from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at the Salmon River Fish Hatchery, 2133 Co. Rte. 22, Altmar.

The event highlights Lake Ontario’s fisheries and attendees will hear about research and management actions taking place on the lake and its eastern-end tributaries, such as the Salmon River.

Anglers, outdoor enthusiasts and the public are all encouraged to attend. Registration is not required.

Anglers and fishing enthusiasts are also invited to visit NYSDEC’s ‘Tackle Box’ feature in its HuntFishNY App. It provides anglers with waterbody-specific information on fishing regulations, stocking and fishing/boating access sites.

To learn more about the management of Lake Ontario’s fisheries, go to the NYSDEC website.

For more information about the public meeting, contact Lake Ontario Unit Leader Chris Legard at 315-654-2147 or christopher.legard@dec.ny.gov.
