The Oswego County Health Department and Office for the Aging have joined forces to offer the “Stepping On” program at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic, 70 Bunner St., Oswego.

Sessions run from 1 to 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday from Oct. 8 to Nov. 19.

The free seven-week series teaches participants fall prevention strategies. Each session is led by a trained professional who can help answer questions regarding physical health and well-being.

It is intended for anyone who lives independently and has fallen or has a fear of falling. The program is not meant for those who use a walker indoors or a wheelchair full-time.

“Stepping On” is an evidence-based program which has proven to reduce falls by 31%. Participants will be able to learn tips and exercises to help build up strength and balance in a safe and welcoming environment.
