Write a commentCatholic Charities of Oswego County (CCOC), employees, the Child Advocacy Center, Oswego County Social Services, the Oswego County Legislature, and the United Way of Greater Oswego County gathered at Catholic Charities on Friday, April 4, to wear blue and mark Child Abuse Prevention Month, said CCOC Executive Director Mary-Margaret Pekow.
Representatives included Lee Sullivan, Oswego County commissioner of Social Services; Tory DeCaire, executive director, Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County, Patrick Dewine, executive director, United Way of Greater Oswego County, and James Karacek, Oswego County legislator, District 22.
“April 4 is Go Blue Day and people are encouraged to wear blue to show their support for child abuse prevention,” Pekow said. “Part of the gathering included planting a blue pinwheel garden as a symbol of healthy childhoods. It’s another way to highlight the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect.”
