The Oswego County Youth Bureau, the Oswego County Prevention Coalition and the Oswego County Child Advocacy Center have joined forces to offer young people new opportunities to help shape youth programs and events around the county.
The Youth Leadership in Action (YLA) Program will now include a youth advisory board component to ensure that young people have a voice in the resources and services available to them. The first meeting of the board will meet virtually via Zoom from 7 to 8 p.m., Sunday, March 15.
This component brings together students in grades 9-12 to work alongside these community partners to help create and improve youth programming around the county.
Student participants will provide feedback on existing programs, help develop new ideas for events and activities, and work collaboratively to address the challenges that they, and their peers, face in the community. They can also earn community service hours, build connections with organizations and leaders around the county and gain valuable leadership experience.
Students interested in participating in the YLA Program can click on this online registration form, then complete and submit their contact information to receive the Zoom link for the first meeting. Those who join the program may remain involved with it until they graduate from high school.
