Louise G. Castaldo, 88, of Oswego, passed away on December 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Agnes Louise (Fitzgibbons) Jerominek.
Louise was a kind and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and homemaker. Her loving nature began at a young age. While at St. Francis Orphanage, she would often sneak bread down to the laundry room to toast it over an iron so the young children didn’t have to eat plain bread. She was social, outgoing, loved to laugh, and always enjoyed a good joke. She was affectionately known as the life of the party and was a good friend to many. If you weren’t lucky enough to know Louise personally, you would probably recognize her from her regular walks through the city that she was so proud of. She was proud of her Polish heritage and could effortlessly dance the polka. She enjoyed many different jobs in the community throughout the years, including Whalen’s Drug Store, Cahill’s, and Ostead’s, where she was a detail-oriented seamstress.
Louise is survived by her daughters Theresa Marie (Gary) Fultz and Marisa Lynne Johnson (Bill Fantom), both of Oswego, her grandchildren Michelle Lauren Ellison (Todd Seipelt), Brian James (Erin) Miller, Andrew Paul Fultz (Liz Axtell), and Courtney Louise Johnson (Jared Pace), her sister Loretta (Steve) Martenic of Maryland, brother in law Ron Castaldo (Norma), sisters in law Gale Castaldo and Anna (Bob) Cortese , and great-granddaughters Ella Louise Miller and Francesca Linn Fultz, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Castaldo Jr., in 2013, and her daughter, Katherine Castaldo.
Family and friends are invited to call from 3-6 pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany Street.
