Marianne P. Cool, 83. of Oswego NY, and Orlando, FL, passed away Thursday October 9, 2025 quietly at home surrounded by her loving family.
Marianne taught art at South Jefferson Central School before joining the Oswego School District, Fitzhugh Park School until her retirement in 1997. She loved her job and always enjoyed giving children the opportunity to express themselves through art. Marianne was fortunate to travel which enriched her art history knowledge. She leaves behind her pottery, stained glass, watercolors, and textiles which she created throughout her career, and shared with many. Marianne found joy in life’s simple pleasures and the people she loved most. She enjoyed golfing with her friends and participated in many tournaments over the years. An avid reader, she was an active member of her community’s book club and never missed her Tuesday nights with her girlfriends, where laughter and card games filled the evening.
Marianne’s greatest love, however, was her family. She was endlessly proud of each and every one of them. Every summer, she hosted a family reunion at her cottage on Lake Ontario, a cherished tradition she looked forward to all year, where memories were made and love overflowed. She will forever be in our hearts and missed.
Marianne leaves behind her husband of 53 years Leonard D. Cool of Oswego and her children Mark (Patricia) Caster of Vero Beach, FL., Ann Marie (JD) Caster of Alabama, Gregory (Lorraine) Caster of Oswego, and a sister-in-law Katherine Bonanno of CA. She was also blessed to love her 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents Mariano “Morris” and Concetta (Talamo) Bonanno, her sister Angie Spataro, and brothers Santo and Anthony Bonanno.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home 147 W. 4th. St. Oswego, with funeral services to follow at 6:15 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY.
